PROFILES OF ATHLETES IN NEED

MICHELLE MOODY
HIGH JUMP

Hometown: Newmarket, Ontario
Age: 20 years
Personal Best: 1.78 m (University of Toronto Field House)

Past Performances:
Silver Medal (2nd), CIS Championships, Winnipeg, March 2005
Gold Medal (1st), Canadian Junior Nationals, Saskatchewan, July 2004

Profile
Michelle trains with the Lightning Athletic Club and plans to compete at the Top 3 Qualifier, the Canada Games Qualifier in Ottawa and the Senior Nationals in Winnipeg. Regrettably, Michelle missed the Junior Scotland tour due to lack of funds.

“Once every few years, an athlete with amazing ability, attitude and potential comes along,” says her coach. “In one year, Michelle, who only started high jumping in the summer of 2003, won the Canadian Junior National Championships."

"She is the female counter-part of Mark Boswell. There is no doubt in my mind that she’ll represent Canada many times over the next few years. At the age of 23, I truly believe she’ll be at the 2008 Olympics. This year she is quite capable of making the FISU, Canada Games and the Francophone Games Teams.”
