About the Song
“Voyage Of A Lifetime” was originally conceived as a tribute to athletes around the world - past and present. The song had immediate resonance with co-songwriter Gary Lubin, a Canadian track and field coach. Some of his athletes, who showed tremendous potential as international competitors, were unable to attend Olympic qualifying event because of financial restraints.
Along with longtime songwriter, jingle-writer and musician Al Shiner from Toronto and Cree/Italian songwriter Marianne Wanyandi from northern Alberta, the song was amended and a movement was formed to raise funds to financially-challenged Canadian athletes.
